It has begun
It's official: I'm fired. See the Cow Manure post for further details.
In a way I'm glad. Housing is a terrible organization, as a leaser and as an employer. They are aloof, wasteful, and bureaucratic in the extreme. That being said, I'll miss the job, getting to know people, working with a group of kickass individuals, and the residents. My biggest concern is being portrayed by the central staff as a villian. I really don't give a shit about my reputation with them, but I do care about my reputation with my fellow RAs. I do know that the RAs who I've talked to have been supportive and have agreed with my stance on the issue. I suppose that those are the only people I should really care about and the rest of the RAs can go screw themselves, but alas, I do care, and will care for quite some time. I've made a lot of friends during the past two years though the job, and I really don't want to lose any, or worse, make enemies.
I'll be moving in with a former resident of mine, Marcus, on the 17th for one month, and then will be moving again to the University Apartments on May 15th. Hooray for inefficiency and rigid guidelines! It's not like they're going to hire an RA for my wing for a month. My room will be empty, which is just stupid, because I could stay here, pay the $292 that housing is asking for a month's stay, and move out when everyone else moves out. But when you incur the wrath of the three blind mice, there is no telling where it will stop. Hyperbole; yes, my opinion; yes, does it make any sense; NO.
