More good music has arrived at the Perry household! Emery - The Question is worthy of recommendation, and I finally picked up some Led Zeppelin cds (II, IV, and Physical Graffiti... obviously it's good).

I watched some of the import dvds I got on ebay a few months back. Taegukgi and Legend of Zu. Taegukgi was good (6.5/10), but was obviously heavily influenced by American cinema and especially by Saving Private Ryan. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I was expecting more of an Asian style film. That being said, the acting was impressive, as was the script, but the direction wasn't totally my style. The battle choreography was less than stellar, and many scenes dragged on longer than they had to. Legend of Zu was a fantasy epic with a lot of cgi special effects. Almost the entire movie is cgi'ed in some way, which would be great if the effects weren't dated (the movie was made in 2001). However, the cartoonish quality works pretty well more often than not, and if you have an open mind about movies, you'll find a decently entertaining time with Zu. I'd give it a 6.0/10. If you like Legend of Zu, you should DEFINITELY check out Casshern. Amazing flick based on a 1973 anime. It's live action, but every extremely stylized shot looks ripped right out of an anime. If you search around, you can find the addictive trailer, which is impressive in and of itself. Casshern does have a few big plotholes, and the action is cartoonish and outlandishly over the top, but considering it's subject matter and influences, that's hardly a strike against it. All in all, a very "fun" movie that shouldn't be taken seriously and simply enjoyed for how beautiful it is.
